Avoiding the flash bounce is excellent advice. Reducing the noise by stabilizing the subject and camera would also bring out detail. I assumed the bullfrog's incomplete maxillary deformity was congenital, but it could have been caused through trauma. Perhaps through a trematode or a fungus when the frog was but a wee pollywog? Nice diversity of critters with some excellent Florida herps. I know panhandle L. calligaster are supposively not as elusive as S. Fl moles, but they sure are prettier. Those snook are quite impressive too.

Nice find, both of you! After Josh mentioned he found one Carl's photo was one of the few I turned up on the net. This snake's snout appears very 'pointed' compared to other members of the genus, or even other T. relicta, I've seen. Is that a defining characteristic for the subspecies?

Excellent photos Josh. I really enjoyed all the salamanders, habitat shots and the box turtle. That shot of the crew hunting among the aquatic vegetation at FEC is really compelling.
I always thought field-herping with St. Francis of Assisi would have been a blast.

Sounds like you're just having a bit of bad luck. During my three years in Gville I found lots of snakes at several of the spots you mentioned. Just keep hitting them up and don't get discouraged. Integrades I've seen from Peninsular Florida had plastrons with blotches on several but not all scutes and orange-tinted, irregular-shaped 'ear' marks behind the eye.
