Herper of the Month - November 2005
Michael Graziano

"I've been obsessed with reptiles and amphibians for as long as I can remember. As a child and up until I could drive myself, my parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents would spend countless hours taking me to nature preserves and parks to see various herps."

"While I have had the opportunity to both live and herp in Illinois, California, and South Carolina, my home base has always been and likely will always be Ohio. While living in other states, I always spent my summers near Wilmington, Ohio, catching various turtles, frogs, and salamanders."
"It wasn't until spring of 2004 that I began to photograph the animals that I have always enjoyed seeing. While I enjoy seeing all reptiles and amphibians, I particularly enjoy salamanders and turtles. In the past I have been a research assistant dealing with vernal pools and tracking tracking coyotes, and currently keep detailed records of the various herps I see in the field and report any rare findings to Ohio researchers."
"I am currently a senior at the Ohio State University majoring in zoology and natural resources and have a strong interest in vernal pools and the animals that utilize them (particularly salamanders of
the genera Ambystoma and Hemidactylium)."
